We are very excited to announce our partnership in this event with Rochester Public Library (RPL). What a natural collaboration! RPL is all about literacy, community, culture, and learning, all values we aim to uplift with Day of the Dead Poets Slam.
The Library will have a Day of the Dead Open House of their own, we encourage you to mark it on your calendar and stop by for the activities! Rochester Public Library’s Day of the Dead Open House is Saturday, November 5th, 10AM – 12PM & 2PM-4PM and Sunday, November 6th 2PM – 4PM
From our friend Heather Accero, Head of Youth Services at Rochester Public Library, “We will be making masks, paper flowers, a community board of memories, and sugar skulls. We will also be running a photo booth. We will have an altar and decorations out about a week ahead.”
Sounds fun! Make sure to stop by their Day of the Dead Open House before or after you come to Think & Do Free Family Day at Rochester Art Center – it’s just right across the street! (We’ll be running Free Family Day on Saturday Nov 5, 1:00 – 4:00 PM)
The Rochester Public Library has tons and tons of awesome programming, not to mention all their resources, checking out books is just the start. Beyond all the (totally cool) books are public computers, printing and scanning, meeting and conference rooms for rental, and public classes for kids and adults. Make sure to check out all their programming at the links below!
The Rochester Public Library also has a traveling BookBike, where they can travel around and check out books on the go! They are going to be at our event on Thursday Nov 3 and Saturday Nov 5 with their fabulous BookBike, so bring your library cards!
Thanks Rochester Public Library for your partnership! We are so excited to be working with you.
