We are so thankful to be working with Rochester Art Center again in the presentation of Day of the Dead Poets Slam for the second year. Rochester Art Center is co-presenting this event again this year, which means we are working together closely to organize logistical details of the event, and make Day of the Dead Poets Slam even better than we could alone! We truly believe collaboration is the key to success, and our collaboration with RAC has been super successful.

Rochester Art Center was founded 70 years ago in 1946, and has been providing Rochester with engaging arts experiences ever since. Their vision is, “To be a cultural center for innovation and creativity through contemporary art.” And we certainly think they have realized that vision, and continue to do so!  We appreciate their commitment to creativity, as well as their new focus on being community-facing, by hosting community events,  reaching out to participate in local community events and happenings, and continuing their very popular youth programming, such as Tastes Like Paint and Free Family Day.

If it’s been awhile since you’ve been to RAC, you should definitely stop by to check out their current exhibit, Unearth: Judy Onofrio. Onofrio is a Minnesota-based artist who has has a long, successful career in the arts. Her solo exhibit at RAC has some of her older works, as well as lots of new work where Onofrio uses found animal bones to create striking sculptures, many painted gold or mixed with other materials to give them a surreal, spiritual feel. This exhibit is one of the favorites that I’ve seen at RAC, so make sure to take a look while its still up. Entry is still free, so don’t be scared away by all that construction equipment, RAC is still open for their regular hours!

There are so many wonderful things going on at RAC, way more than I can cover in a single post. But, I will say again we’re so happy to be co-presenting Day of the Dead Poets Slam with RAC, and we’re looking forward to presenting poetry, arts, crafts, and Dia de los Muertos altars in RAC’s Grand Lobby very soon!

I’ll leave you with RAC’s sweet mission statement, quoted from their website:
